Learning Communities

50 minutes per week of dedicated time to study or connect with resources for academic success.

The Hormel Foundation requires students to enroll in the 0 credit Learning Communities class which is available exclusively to The Hormel Foundation Austin Assurance Scholarship (THFAAS) Students that meet certain academic criteria.

Students meeting one or more of the following conditions are required to enroll:

  • Student is on Academic Warning

  • Student is on Academic Probation

  • Student’s cumulative Riverland GPA is below 2.5 (or HS GPA is under 2.5 and no Riverland GPA exists)

Our 50-minute per week learning communities provide THFAAS students with a quiet working space with goal-setting and academic advising conducive to helping them progress on their academic work and achieve their goals. Academic Advisors and Learning Specialists/Tutors will be on hand to address any questions you may have on academic success, time management, managing workload, making the best use of your time, or any other related questions you might have!
